Completed: 53 Half Marathons in 365 Days
Well, I just crossed the following off of my bucket list of things to do before I depart this mortal coil:
Run a half marathon every single week for a full year!!!!
Yes, you heard that right – There was not a single weekend that went by the last 365 days where I did not run at least a half marathon. I ran a total of 53 half marathons in exactly 365 days (inclusive)!
My streak began on Saturday June 7, 2025, and continues to the present day, Saturday June 6, 2026.
I averaged 14.34 miles per run - I always ran more than a half marathon distance of 13.1 miles. My average elapsed time was 2:14:13. I ran a total of 759.7595915 miles this past year, and that only takes into account half marathon runs, not the admittedly few shorter runs.
This is all the more stunning since when I began running a few years ago, I could hardly run twenty minutes without gassing out. I was never on a track or cross-country team in my school years, and now I run half marathons for weekend breakfast.
The morale of the story here is that the human mind is extremely powerful, and that greatness is achievable if we strive for it with unwavering tenacity. Even if we don’t achieve our noble Earthly goals, by tenaciously striving for them we ultimately cultivate and refine our souls – and that makes all the difference.
To channel David Goggins, I strive to be uncommon amongst the uncommon. I do not smoke or vape; I do not drink alcohol or soda; I do not do drugs; I do not eat candy; I do not participate in hookup culture; I do not have tatoos; I do not give in to peer pressure; I do not participate in religious services; I do not care much for luxurious items. And I do not mind if people think any of this is uncool.
I think for myself, live simply and run at least a half marathon every weekend.
We live in a world of soul-making – so get out there and refine your soul!
